The time is 1921. The place, Aaronsville, Indiana.

When Carrie McFarland is accused of putting a voodoo hex on the keynote speaker at the Negro Voters League Banquet, it's clear that someone has it in for her. Is it ward boss William C. Tisdale, a major bootlegger and the town's only Negro lawyer? Is it Herman Scott, the ambitious politician angling to take Boss Tisdale's place? What about Gravy Gunniston, Boss Tisdale's handsome new bodyguard?

To get to the bottom of things, Carrie will need the help of her mentor, the powerful 80-year-old Hoodoo Queen, Sister Marie Brown. The two women will need to use their psychic gifts, mother-wit, and street smarts in order to clear Carrie's name.

This was a fun mystery story, a little short for the price, but entertaining with engaging characters. It is read by the author, and would have been done better justice by one of the many skilled actors who record for audible.

A fun story that could use a more professional reader.

The reader is magically immersed in every scene and conversation. This plot has humor, surprise, rich cultural syntax as well as a happy who done it ending. I can’t wait for her next story.
