Written by experts but designed for the nonexpert, the Armchair series provides accurate, concise, and witty overviews of some of the most profound moments and theologians in Christian history. An essential supplement for first-time encounters with primary texts, a lucid refresher for scholars and clergy, and an enjoyable read for the theologically curious. This readable, accessible narrative of the Protestant Reformation includes questions for discussion and suggestions for further reading, making this an ideal book for adult group study. Glenn S. Sunshine is Associate Professor of History at Central Connecticut University in New Britain, Connecticut. He received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Renaissance and Reformation History.

Where does The Reformation for Armchair Theologians rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best books on the Reformation I've ever listened to/read. There are many good ones that go deeper into depth, but if you want a really great overall summary, this is the book I would recommend. I study the Reformation at a very deep level, but I was very surprised at how well written and correct the history is!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Reformation for Armchair Theologians?

Since this in non fiction, there's not a fictional character, but Luther was highlighted very well and, well all of them so it's hard to choose.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. This is the first one. Kate is an AMAZING narrator. She's got a beautiful, captivating voice and she's an intelligent narrator. I was impressed by her as there were names and places that are foreign to the English language and her pronunciation of these names and places were spot on. Her diction is clear and she keeps the energy lively and when there's an amusing moment, Kate nails it!!! As a narrator myself, I am really critical of other narrators because I do long form narration myself. She held my attention and I learned a lot from her. She's one of the finest female book narrators I've ever heard! Great job!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, it was just simply....wonderful.

Any additional comments?

I hope Mr. Sunshine writes more books like this and uses Kate as his narrator. They make a fine duo!

I really liked this short book! It gives a nice, surface level survey of the history around and through the time of the Reformation, while also stopping to delve deeper into the theology.

The reader had a clear voice and great cadence. Felt like listening to an engaging lecture

A Fun, Quick jaunt through the Reformation!

I loved Sunshine's treatment of the theology involved. But I got bogged down in all of the politics and wars.

Excellent treatment of an important era.
