There's a killer in the slums.

London 1884. When a thief robs Fleet Street reporter Penny Green, she finds herself caught up in a horrifying murder. Someone is terrorizing the residents of St Giles Rookery, and Scotland Yard sends Inspector James Blakely to investigate. When the serial killer claims a victim outside the slums, Victorian London is sent into panic.

Can Penny's friendship with the people of St Giles uncover the culprit? She and James must overcome their complicated relationship to work together, but each new murder threatens to derail their work for good.

This was a wonderful story, it's refreshing to find books that do not include cursing.

Cheeky lady reporter.

The Heroine is a complete Nitwit! She gets herself into stupid situations that require a big brave man to get her out. She hasn't even the courage to face up to a drunken kiss and does the "Woah is me" routine for the rest of the book. And the Inspector is not any better.

I definitely enjoyed book 2! Great cast of characters and good story line. I like Gabrielle Baker as the narrator too!

Way too much killing in book two but I still enjoyed book two. 🙌🙌

Another well done mystery by Miss Organ. I liked the serial killer angle, there were several mysteries they were trying to solve which kept it interesting and made it different than the first. I liked the development between Penny and James, and the narration was perfect once again. I appreciate a mystery that doesn't need gore or sex to sell, yet also isn't juvenile. I have already listened to the third and am moving on the the 4th!

Great Victorian Mystery
