I REALLY LIKE this author except…..

Except for the way she ends these very compelling stories. She does all of this work and research, and ends up with a great book ….. but the endings just fall short. It’s like, after all of this buildup and detail, her stories (this isn’t the only one) just sort of fall off at the end. It feels to me that she just got tired of the whole thing and said “ok, I’m done. Next?” She leaves me hanging, that’s all. But the whole story line in general holds my attention from beginning to end…..but falls short at the end.

German or English?

I struggle to listen to books about Germans with English accents. I'd like more German

An absolute pleasure to get lost in..

This book puts you the families own shoes at that moment. I listened to the audio book and I just couldn’t stop listening to it. A great novel to read.

Great story and narrative

The story was compelling, I am amazed at the violence endured and the lack of basic needs being met. History books should show more of this degradation so people would understand and be proud of our heritage and want our own citizens who are suffering to be assisted into a better and loving life.

The ending comes way too fast

The story is wonderful and well written. However, the ending left more to be desired. This is the second book I have listened to by this author and it was the same feedback.
