Eustace Mullins was a reputed "anti-semite" and conspiracy theorist, but this book contains nothing anti-Jewish or any outlandish conspiracy conjecture. What it does is describe, somewhat blandly, the origins of the Federal Reserve System...from its plotting on Jekyll Island in 1910, to its creation by Congress in 1913, to its continued efforts to undermine/overhaul the American economy. Much time is spent talking about Paul Warburg (the man who inspired the fictional "Annie" character Daddy Warbucks) and his efforts to push the FRS into existence. With a central banking system in firm control, the USA has devolved into a fascist, controlled oligarchy with politicians as front men under the sway of power international bankers.

The book contains plentiful information, and was certainly ahead of its time in outlining the sordid machinations of the Federal Reserve System....its role in fomenting World War 1 and electing (selecting) Woodrow Wilson, the stock market crash of 1929, the Great Depression, and its involvement with Adolf Hitler. And the listener might be surprised to learn how the USA has been controlled by the Rothschild banking family and the city of London for over a century. But again, you could point out who the Rothschilds are, but Mullins doesn't go there in this book.

The book has its problems. It is very dry, without much elegant prose or flow. Mullins is obviously very smart, but the book is disjointed. Why he didn't arrange it in chronological order is baffling. The chapter on Hitler is followed by the chapter on World War 1, and anecdotes pop up here and there that are out of time/place. The listener would have been better served if he told the story step by step. The book was written in the 1980s, and the problems have only gotten worse.

I enjoyed the book despite some of the complaints I have. Mullins was a very courageous man, and the listener would do well to use this book as a springboard to learning more about this nefarious banking system which has all but destroyed the American way of life.
