great

story line (for me) new
narrator impressive
as a new world it took me a bit to follow butt, well worth the effort. am eagerly waiting to dive into tthe next.

Good story

Good story, too bad storyteller lacks creativity for the different characters in the story. They all sounded the same.

Solid fantasy

I enjoyed this story and the world that Patrick Carr created. The narration was good.

Aaaaaaand we’re off!!

Finally! I had to restart this book a few times because my attention kept wandering for various reasons. BUT, once I got into, I didn’t put it down! Loved it!

Trying too hard

Storyline and magic were decent. Writing was terrible. Metaphors seemed like they were thrown in as filler and they were painfully bad. I finished the book and was tempted to do the sequel but can’t bring myself to do it. I did really appreciate the fact that the writing was clean and morally redemptive.
