It is an extraordinary tale of the hardship and brutality that typifies the life of one of the Spanish Army’s most harshly disciplined elite troops and opens up their dark and deeply religious "cult of death" for all to see and understand.

This is a deeply heartwarming, emotional, and moving rendition of one man’s desperate search for the truth and how he found it in the most unusual of places.

Powerful story of redemption.

I don’t exactly know what I expected when I started this book. I guess I thought it would be more of his adventures in the Spanish legion. However, the legion played more of a support role in illustrating how his life went from one of despair and searching, to one of hollow fulfillment as a Soldier, then back to despair and finally to peace and joy in Christ. Certainly though, he did give a lot of great stories about his time in the legion so if you are interested in that, there’s plenty here for you on that front too. Overall, this was a good book and certainly one I’m glad I read.
