When a mysterious client asks former Delta Force operator Case Lee to investigate a rebellion in South America, he uncovers an incredible global conspiracy. Welcome to revolution, murder, and behind-the-curtains intrigue. As events unfold, the spies and mercenaries come to a hard realization. You may mess with a lot on this good earth, but you don't mess with Case Lee.

A murdered wife. A bounty on his head. Case lives an isolated life on the Ace of Spades, an old wooden cruiser plying the waters of the Intracoastal Waterway from Virginia to Florida. His only friends are a collection of former Delta Force teammates spread across the globe. And an enigmatic broker of clandestine information, Jules of the Clubhouse.

Case wants out. But when he returns from South America, bounty hunters arrive. And in their search for him discover his special skills. Very special skills. If you like Jack Reacher and Mitch Rapp, you'll love this new novel from acclaimed author Vince Milam.

I really enjoyed this first book in the Case Lee series.
Considering this is also a debut novel I think the author did a fantastic job. This book is told in first person.
The protagonist (Case Lee) is former Delta. Living on a boat and off the grid. There's a bounty on him and his DELTA team members. He currently takes freelance jobs, primarily informational. He is introspective, has his own set of principles that include not taking jobs that require killing, however for self preservation or the lives of his former team members he will. Comradeship is of utmost importance.
There's a surprising scene involving a really great character (Bo) towards the end. Actually almost all the team members are pretty interesting. Each ONE occupying a different corner of the states.
This author fleshed out his characters and wrote a believable story.
Tim Dixon does an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Entertaining action story with a retired Delta protagonist contracting in an investigatory capacity rather than a lethal independent mercenary role. Though as a result the story is more subdued than the tense, adrenaline-soaked, roller coaster plots of most operator action series, it was an engaging tale. There is significant time spent on relationships and more relaxed interactions with Case’s comrades and family, which added to the slower pace of the novel. Case is written as an experienced operator with a special set of skills, but not a superhero like Mitch Rapp or Court Gentry. I enjoyed this book, liked Case, and will likely continue with the series. Finishing the audiobook having not lost sleep to stay up late listening or feeling impatient to start the next ride in the series, just curious to see what happens on Case’s next “job,” is a good change of pace.

Interesting mesh of action and relationship focus

I loved this story and the narrator was genius! So worth it! The descriptions in this thrilling story had me visually seeing the entire story laid out in front of me - the author did a brilliant job bringing me right into the story. Seriously, you will be transported right into the far away places described in this book. The characters were real and beautifully developed. This was a suspenseful story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, for sure, but it also goes beyond that with gritty and charming characters that will become very real to you. This author is definitely one of my new favorites and I will be getting all of his books.

You will be transported! Great suspense!
