A heart-wrenching emotional romance filled with hope, forgiveness, and most of all, love.

Sometimes holding on to pain means letting go of love.

If there's no place like home, that's more than okay for Mara Makinen. In fact, she prefers it that way. Going back to the place where she made the worst mistake of her life? Not ideal.

So when a family emergency forces Mara to return home to her small lake town in Maine after seven years, she knows there's only one way she'll get through it unscathed: avoid Ambrose King at all costs.

But that might prove difficult considering he lives right across the street.

Contains mature themes.

I wasn't sure if I was ready for this book once I started reading it because grief is a little too fresh for me, but this just felt like a hug from my dad. The journey was emotional, and the little moments made me smile throughout the book.

This book moved extremely slow for me. It’s a cute romance book really no spice. The story itself is super cute and sad. I just felt like it took forever to get to the point. The book went back and forth between present and past. Mara leaves town right after graduation she returns 7 years later due to her dad’s illness. I did love Mara and Ambrose’s relationship. There is a lot of grief in this book. The writing was great the story was great.. it was just super slow. It’s a book you can listen to and not really have to pay attention to (I hate saying that). All in all it was a good book.

Was okay.
