In a dying world, heroes aren't born—they're forged or they're buried.

The light is fading. Shadows creep across Elystria and the Warrior Republic stands as one of the last strongholds holding back the void's desire to extinguish Elystria and its people for good.

As a gifted spatial mage of House Lysandor, Asterion carries the weight of everyone's expectations. While others see future leadership in him, he knows the truth—he'll either prove himself worthy of joining the Undying or get himself along with his friends killed trying.

Faced with a post-apocalyptic world beyond the protective wards, Asterion and his family must live up to their creed: To claim the sun—or be swallowed by shadow.

This was a real surprise, was not expecting a top tier book when I started. Genuinely, one of the best I've read in a while. Characters could use a bit of work as they're a bit on the shallow side, but there's plenty of time to expand there. Other than that, world building is excellent, magic systems intestesting with each power actually seeming to matter, and the pacing was terrific.

I hope the next one doesn't jump fully into full War mode, which feels like the biggest risk to this series right now. Doesn't need full slice of life, but the set up is perfect for more world exploration, new characters, political intrigue, even a bit of base building. Tons of potential. Keep up the pace too - this is about the path to immortality, don't need a book covering 6 months of battles.

As someone else here mentioned, the narrators were good but the audio editing needs a lot of work. Female narrator was half the volume and there were quite a few strange pauses and cut off sentences where I thought the app froze.

Haven't been this interested in a new series in a long time.

this is a really strong contender in the LitRPG space. it has a really classic feel of good vs evil, with the force of the void pushing in on all sides and group of people pushing back the dark.
it feels good. the characters are very likeable, and the progression and power development keeps you hooked in wanting to see how the trio will improve themselves.

definitely looking forward to seeing more of this series.

Wow I did not expect to like that as much as I did

This is a really good first book to a series. I hope there is more at this quality coming. The author shows great fault in how the characters progress and the interaction between characters is excellent. Can’t wait for the next book.

Good book

The characters in this story are fun and interesting. while the plot is loose the world building is very well executed.
I have one complaint. This book is excellent. absolutely a must read. but when I looked at the time remaining and saw over 40 minutes left I was content until the auther's notes started and the book was over. I don't want a preview of another series I want this one!

I Need More Book in My Book.
