Living in Victorian London is difficult at the best of times. So, instead of following in his father’s footsteps, Albert decides on adventure. However, fate has other plans. One drunken night on his way home, he responds to the blood-curdling scream of a woman. He rushes her attacker and in the ensuing fight, he is bitten. Albert's world is changed forever. With that one savage bite, he is turned into a monster that people had believed was just a creation of an author's mind.

That night Albert becomes a vampire. Days turn into months, then years to decades as he struggles with the loss of his soul and humanity. He thought he was alone but as his friends and loved ones pass into memory, his own kind begin to make their presence known.

This book was amazing! I loved how you could just sink into the story! Completely played out like a movie in your mind, the narrator is also wonderful with voice and doing each character.

I loved this book, the story had the most likable character with a dash of humor and history. Such a brilliant idea for a vampire story. I loved the narrator his voice was so easy to listen too, all around great listen.

Albert tried to do the right thing, he really did, unfortunately he got bit in the neck for his trouble, setting off a chain of events that no one could have imagined! “The Victorian Vampire” is a thrilling account of Albert’s trials and tribulations as he comes to terms with his new reality, Completely enthralling, a bit horrifying and somewhat macabre in all the BEST possible ways, the writing is fantastic, the dialogue smooth and the characters, WOW the characters, some history based with liberal editorial license, and some totally of the authors imagination, ALL beautifully developed and running the full spectrum of likability! No spoilers, As much as I would love to mention a few of my favorites, I don’t dare as that might be giving away too much of this ingeniously creative and totally unique plot! The narration was excellent, keeping me engaged in this magnificent story. All accents (and there were several) were spot on, and the vocal intonations were emotionally appropriate throughout. I throughly enjoyed listening to this one! Five fabulous stars!

This was a fun journey that really should continue in a second book (same characters or just the same reality/universe). I'd eagerly look forward to another one like this!

The Victorian Vampire written by Nick James is a tale about an everyday brit that turns into an everyday vampire. Overall this book was a feel-good fun read. From the heartwarming bonds formed by the characters to the funny situations, they get into. This book is a good fit for anyone who enjoys the vampire genre but wants it light on the gore. Unfortunately, the downfall of this story is that there wasn't any real conflict for the protagonist to overcome. Sure, there were sprinklings of minor conflicts throughout which were quickly resolved, and I didn't feel that he was ever in any real danger.

The narrator Paul Hilliar did an exceptional job, being a perfect match for the majority of characters. Although his American accent needs a little work, his voice acting was consistent throughout and caught the tone of the protagonist and other characters perfectly.

Editing, quality, and production were on par with most books I have listened to. It was clear, with no issue with sound or quality.
