She wasn’t supposed to time-travel. She definitely wasn’t supposed to inherit a curse.

Amelia Bennett is a historian who believes in facts, not magic, until a hidden fountain pulls her into 1893 New Orleans. Here, the dead whisper, shadows watch, and her bloodline makes her dangerous.

Because Amelia isn’t just lost in the past. She’s the last descendant of Marie Laveau, and now, she’s being hunted.

A secret occult society known as Les Ombres is rising, and they don’t just want power. They want Amelia. Her blood and her magic. To take it, they must break the ancient Dual Incantation protecting the city, an act that could damn New Orleans for generations. With every passing hour, the line between past and present fractures, and the city edges closer to ruin.

Her only ally may be Julien LeBlanc, a dangerously compelling stranger with secrets as dark as the magic chasing her. He can protect her … or be the reason she loses everything.

If she lets herself fall for him, it may cost more than her life.

Because in a war ruled by magic and shadows, Amelia faces an impossible choice: Embrace the power in her blood … or lose her soul to it.

Perfect for fans of A Discovery of Witches, License to Curse, and dark, atmospheric occult suspense, The Voodoo Queen is a gripping blend of occult suspense, time travel, forbidden love, and deadly magic set in the heart of historic New Orleans.

From bestselling author Elizabeth Whitmore comes a story where magic has a price, monsters wear human faces, and time is running out.

It's a nice listen while working or doing chores around the house. The AI voice was pretty impressive except when it came to the Louisiana dialect. I will give the rest of the series a try.

A good quick story with a nice flow. I would have thought the characters would’ve had more Southern accents but the performance was still good.

A Learning visit

Don’t care for virtual voice narration, otherwise the story probably would have gone much better . . . Just sayin.
