Skye Davenport is no ordinary thief. She has the ability to foresee danger, and she believes stealing from the wicked is justice served right. Her life takes a different turn when she brings her brother, Christian, on a dangerous mission that leads them to a supernatural world of the undead. A war has been going on for centuries, predators lurk within the shadows, hiding, and waiting for the right time to attack. Skye knows that she and her brother are the only gifted humans that can stop this war, but there are more filthy beasts to catch, murders to uncover, and secrets to be revealed. What happens when the hunters become the hunted?

I love Angelica’s description and detail. She gave a lot of attention to food, clothing, and setting, adding to the depth of the story. I did feel at times that Skye and Christian lost their ability to control their own destiny around the more powerful vampires trying to protect them, but Angelica forced them in the climactic scene to fight for their very lives.
The narrator did a good job with the many accents required for this story and surprised me at times with her renditions. While her French accent for Zachary, didn’t sound French to me at first (I thought he was Romanian maybe) once I realized he was French, it amazingly sounded more French. This was an extremely difficult story to narrate with all the accents, but I thought Kasey did a great job.
Overall a great story, worth the listen. I may actually read it too and see how that impacts my retention and the distinction of the different characters.

characters were well developed, and the fantasy aspect of the vampires was well woven into out world. The storyline was alright, there were unique aspects of the world that got it enough of the trope of vampires to keep me intrigued
As for the narration, i think the narrator did a pretty good job with the mast number of characters in it, and with the accents. But, the editing was not good. there are uncountable number of points where the narration jumoed quickly without pause to the next line, or someone speaking. it really made it hard to focus and at times I almost stopped listening all together because of it. that is the main reason why the performance score is so low.
