Ray Garrett, a wealthy young American living in Europe, is grieving over the death of his wife. Ray is at a loss for why she would take her own life, but Peggy's father, Ed Coleman, has no such uncertainty - he blames Ray completely.

Coleman wants vengeance, Ray wants a clear conscience, and the police want to solve the mystery of what happened to the missing American.

New and different Patricia

More comedy than detective, still amazing Patricia Highsmith. Cant wait to read another her work

Not Highsmith's best, but worth reading.

An Interesting character developments and study, but an underwhelming thriller with a anticlimactic conclusion.

Like listening to the B side…

Found the story interesting. Found the delivery excellent. Found insight, as always, rewarding. Think a lot are in the short stories, the B sides of her hits, that might not have made it into her greatest hits. All her stories are a great way to learn more about reality.

Why?

This was literally the most boring novel I have ever witnessed. It’s very surprising that anyone would think to bring it to life as an audiobook.
