horrible narrator

the book itself is fantastic and I would highly recommend it to all. however the narrator just cannot pronounce basic words. "levites", "essenes", "purification", "tetrarch", "magnificat", "Caesarea", and many other words he pronounces abysmally wrong. it is constant and ruins the narration entirely. I dont know how someone gets a job narrating books when they dont know how to pronounce basic words. Again, I highly recommend the book its a 10/10. But dont listen to this narrator ever.

Absolutely Fantastic

I don't know why this book is not the basis for every Christology class. It really should be. It's a brilliant book; deep, profound, enlightening. Though the gentleman reading the book needs a lot of help with his pronunciation. He mispronounced so many words it started to grate on my nerves.

This makes it all personal.

OK, weird British pronunciations, but ponder what is presented here. THIS is what you should take your soul’s journey in this life.

Excellent meditation on Jesus but weak reading

I love Frank Sheed’s work. This sits in my shelf next to Guardini’s The Lord, Benedict’s Jesus of Nazareth and Fulton Sheen’s Life of Christ. Unfortunately, the reader here is expressionless/apathetic. And his English accent can’t hide his consistent mispronunciation of certain relatively common words.

Amazon, if you can’t find a professional to do this over, give me a ring. It’s worth doing right.

You can really know Him

First, I thought the performance was good. However, because the narrator is British, he uses British pronunciations and sometimes that leaves you wondering what the word was. I have a hard copy of the book so I could easily look for the word. Sheed gives a lot of information that isn't in the Bible but is known about the time period and location. And he gives explanations as to why Jesus said something the way he did or how it relates to the Old Testament. There is a lot of information in this book. I'm glad to have an audio copy that I can listen to while I'm busy with other things.
