Most Favorite Childhood Story

I have loved this book for most of my life. I first read it when I was about 10 or 11 years old. I have re-read it several times, most recently at 71 years old! It deals with time travel if a sort, and how we as children find ways to survive . This book most certainly kept me company when I really have needed it. About time and the beginning and ending of life .
