When I close my eyes and manage to block out the horrors going on around me, and ignore the aches and pains on virtually every inch of my body, I can still hear the cheers of the audience as I'm lifted into the air by my teammates. For those few brief moments, as I remember toppling from the top of the pyramid, I feel like I'm flying. I'm free and nothing can hurt me.

But I'm wrong. How long will it take before they stop missing me, stop looking, before I am forgotten about completely? A month? Six months? A year?

I'm no longer a person. I'm a commodity.

I have a plan, years in the making. It's perfect, it's foolproof. All I need is to keep myself focused on the big picture: my ultimate goal. But then she arrived.

She tests my patience and my will. She angers and frustrates me, making the darkness within scream to be released. I want to ignore her, but I can't. I need to let her go, but can't seem to allow for her to be sent away.

Why on earth pick this narrator?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I'm just confused as to why this narrator was picked. I had a hard time getting through the story, especially with an older gentleman reading the part of a teenage girl... it was strange and definitely took me out of the story.

Narrator sounds like he was chewing gum or had something in his mouth for the entire narration of the book. Love Terry Tower books. The only reason I kept on listening.

have the audio book actually work. Before you sell it.

disappointment in audio, story very good.

Didn't make it past the first chapter

The narrators voice is definitely not right for this book. It was a struggle to make it past the first chapter. I'll stick with the book!

2 stars might be generous

The story/plot was unremarkable & lackluster. The narrator did both the lead male & female characters (strike 1)…. In the same. exact. voice/tone/pitch/etc.
All the etc’s. 👎🏻
