RITA Award Winner, Best Historical Single Title, 1994

A hero of the crusades, Dominic le Sabre has returned in glory and in triumph to claim his reward: the beautiful Saxon bride awarded to him by the conqueror king. But Lady Margaret of the Blackthorne cannot yield to the bold Norman invader.

The beloved daughter of a sacred tribe of the Celtic mystics, she fears an ancient curse that could bring further turmoil to her battle-scarred land...and sorrow to her marriage bed.

With a word, the lady could turn her wedding into war. But there awaits in the noble knight's embrace a promise of passion unbound - and a love that neither violence nor treachery can tear asunder, a love both invincible and...untamed.

Loved the story line. Some of the love scenes were a bit too graphic for me, but I could fast forward through them without spoiling the story!

Beautiful story

I’ve read this book in hard copy and really liked it. I was curious to see if the listen would measure up. A lot depends on the narrator, and I have listened to Anne Flosnik before and not been impressed. I am happy to say this is one of her better reads. Her performance of the dramatic and pivotal scenes in the book was well done. I will be looking to more listens from her. Hopefully, we will be offered the 2 other books in this trilogy, Forbidden and Enchanted.

Well done.

Not your usual Historical Romance, and one of the best audiobooks I've heard in some time.

The talented Elizabeth Lowell certainly knows how to keep a listeners interest, and with Anne Flosnik's excellent narration the listener is taken through a gambit of emotions as the story takes unexpected twists and turns.

Well worth a credit, but happy to get it on sale.

For the genre it was quite good. Elizabeth Lowell is a good storyteller. It is a shame about the narrator.

The narration by Anne Flosnik wasn't too bad except her interpretations of male characters was absolutely deplorable - especially the main male character. It was embarrassing to listen to and I cringed everytime, especially during the love scenes. It is a shame because I quite liked her accent. I will think hard before listening to her again.

Good news that someone else is narrating the next book in the series. Hopefully it will be an improvement.

Not Bad BUT .......

I loved this medieval romance. Unique plot, beautiful love story with lots of suspense and great characters. Sexually tasteful, the little falcon and brave warrior make a grand duo! The narrator was wonderful at times but grizzly voiced at others, the wonderful outweighed the not though and I really enjoyed her. I will continue on with 2 & 3 and I wish she would write Sven's story as he is the most mysterious character of all.
