My favorite of the HH series

Really good insight into the Sons of Horus. I’m a fan of Chaos legion and a traitor at heart (death to the false emperor btw) it also had a badass war scene in it. If you like Horus and abandon this is your book

Steady pace to an unpredictable ending

As expected, a riveting adventure to the vengeful spirit by some classic characters. The purpose and character development was a bit underwhelming but the journey covered well.

Needed Toby Longworth

I like Armstrong as a narrator and he does a solid job, but most all of these characters listeners have heard Longworth voice almost exclusively, so it doesn’t feel quite right.
The meat of the story is very good, but like some of Mcneil’s other works, there are parts that kind of drag or feel unnecessarily detailed and long. Overall, if you want a Sons of Horus story, I would recommend this.

Feels like coming home

It has been so long since I read about the Warmasters legion and it was a tragic tale indeed. I find myself feeling sorry for Horus and I’m not sure why. Probably due to the stellar writing of each novel in this series. Definitely worth checking out if you want to continue the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus storyline!!!

Unfortunately mixed

The parts with the Sons of Horus and the actual battle are the highlights of the book. Unfortunately there are a bunch of side plots (one in particular about an incestuous family) that really don't add much to the overall story. It helps if you listen to the short stories "Little Horus" and "The Either" as they both deal with the Dwell campaign which is mentioned heavily here as a prequel.
