Military aide Luke Steele and FBI Special Agent Amberlyn Reiner go undercover once again to unravel a string of murders that may be tied to a nuclear threat capable of igniting a war.

Military aide Luke Steele grapples with self-doubt after a tragic loss during his last mission. But when a trusted American journalist is killed in Istanbul, Luke must push past his grief to prepare for a new assignment.

The Turkish police report the journalist as the eighth victim of a serial killer. But US intelligence considers the suspicious death a murder at the hands of an international threat and fear that the journalist could have had top-secret information that is now in the hands of an enemy of the United States.

The president tasks Luke to join with FBI Special Agent Amberlyn Reiner to investigate. As the two delve into the cause of the journalist’s death, they unravel a conspiracy that reveals a chilling plan for the assassination of the president and a potential nuclear strike on the United States.

Going undercover as a couple, Luke and Amberlyn travel to Istanbul to connect with a Russian source who holds key information to the case—if they can find him in time.

In the crucible of danger, Luke must rediscover his confidence and trust the bond he has forged with Amberlyn as they fight to save the president of the United States and stop a perilous nuclear plot poised to kill millions.

The two main characters are more than highlights. They and their relationship are an integral part of every detail in the story. Their connection and caring for each other are what make the entire plot a success! If you like spies, normal people being extraordinary and you enjoy intrigue. Good guys and bad. This is the story for you! Even if you just like good women & men who go above and beyond for each other you will love this story!

For the love of a good man

The narrative sounded like robots- stiff and voices bland without inflection. Miss the original narrators author usually uses.

Loved the suspense.

The narrators did a phenomenal job bringing this story to life. The flow of changing the voices of each POV was easy to follow and I really enjoyed how Candace Joice and Michael Kirby voiced this story!!

Victim #8 picks up right after Hometown Vendetta, which is book 1 in this series, and I was so thrilled to see Amberlyn and Luke work together again!!

This story builds up with political strife with threats of a nuclear attack and assassinations. On top of the suspense and heart pounding action we experience Luke and Amberlyn learning how to grieve the events in book 1 and how they learn to open their hearts. Amberlyn’s patience and acceptance of Luke was endearing to read. The representation of Luke’s mental struggles and transformation to accepting help was beautifully written!

Traci, as always, has written a captivating political thriller that had my heart racing, fingers turning the pages as fast as they could, and melting my heart with the romance woven through the pages.

This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading Hometown Vendetta first to fully understanding the depth of a Amberlyn and Luke.

This book does contain violence but does not contain gore in any way.

Another amazing political suspense novel by Traci!!
