Viper's Daughter is the seventh audiobook in the award-winning series that began with Wolf Brother.

For two summers Torak and Renn have been living in the Forest with their faithful pack-brother, Wolf. But their happiness is shattered when Renn realises Torak is in danger – and she's the threat.

When she mysteriously disappears, Torak and Wolf brave the Far North to find her. At the mercy of the Sea Mother and haunted by ravenous ice bears, their quest leads them to the Edge of the World. There they must face an enemy more evil than any they've encountered.

Viper's Daughter plunges you back into the Stone-Age world of Torak, Renn and Wolf: a world of demons, hidden people and exhilarating adventure.

Critic reviews

"What rich, dazzling, immersive storytelling...The best book I have read this year by a country mile (by a wild arctic length of many wolf lopes, I suppose I should say)." (Hilary Mckay)

"Michelle is in a league of her own with this series and what luck for us all that she hasn't finished with Torak, Renn and Wolf's world yet." (Abi Elphinstone)

"Viper's Daughter is sharp, striking and loaded with the wisdom of the deep past. I am in awe of Paver's accomplishment.” (Sophie Anderson)

The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series has meant so much to me growing up, and hearing that there will be a sequel trilogy had me over the moon. I however disagree that this could be listened to/read as a standalone book, but mainly because the overall series is so good, and it is much better if you have the full context of the story! I loved all the little throwbacks, all the mentions of the previous books, and it definitely triggered a lot of nostalgia for me!

Returning to the realm of Torak, Renn and Wolf, and finding that the characters have aged as well was such a wonderful experience! The overall story was okay, but then again, compared to the original Wolf Brother, all the other books are just "okay". The magic of the series was definitely there, and I loved this new part of the world we explored in this story!

I cannot wait for the continuation! Also, having sir Ian McKellen still narrating the books after all these years is what really made this experience magical!

PLOT TWIST

A series that foregrounds a male character sometimes has to put the female sidekick front and center. As she is now no longer the sidekick, it is important to deal with her heritage, to establish that she is not merely just a half-man (explained in story) and to cement the bond of the two in a saga that seems to exist without romance, jealousy being the outward expression. Great story but it hangs the tension between tribal isolation and interconnectedness; without the latter, the quest story would be quite different. Central to the last few books has been and continues here the power grab by a pure evil aspiring master-of-all.

I loved this new installment of my favorite series of all time. Enough love, loss, rage, and twists to satisfy any fan. Ren and Toraks love is my favorite in all of literature. That being said still no hope of sharing this amazing series with others in the U.S. cause Amazon and Audible yave yet to resolve whatever copyright issues keeps them from being sold here. So if you're blind or looking to gift this series to everyone you know, which you definitely should, your out of luck. I've sent in a few complaints but until enough fans do that it seems profitable to fix the problem they probably won't. I'll keep trying but after all these years I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Love it! But still no audiobooks 2&3 in the U.S.
