Great Short Story

I really enjoyed this short story. I’m a sucker for a good sports story and this didn’t disappoint. I also thought the narrators who were new to me did a great job.

A romantic short story

It went really fast and I felt like this story was more telling than showing. It felt like someone was telling me something instead of me reading and book and trying to imagine it in my minds eye.

A Short, Sweet Sports Romance

When top-tier beach volleyball team Ace and Robby fall in love, Ace knows they can't have both a romantic relationship and still be partners on the court. They both decide that they want to be a couple and search for new volleyball partners. How will they balance the pressures of excelling in their sport with the ups and downs of of life?

The way Michaels incorporates the exclusivity of Olympic-level beach volleyball with the normalcy every couple experiences is well-shown. Ace and Robby go through the stress of their profession, supporting each other when life brings them down and even a bout of jealousy on their journey to happiness and fulfillment. It's short, but the story is complete and leads to a satisfying conclusion.

Having dual narrators, Lance Isley and Mackenzie Brennan, really enhances the story. I especially like their interpretation of the wonderful dialogue written by Lynn Michaels. It comes alive with its authenticity.

I received this audiobook as a free review copy that I requested. I have voluntarily written my opinion of it.

Recommended.
