The problem was the narrator
the story was great I loved seeing Onestar's story

onestar's confession was a great story

The story goes over a lifetime of history in a slow way. Onestar is consistently repeating himself and proves to be a pompous fool. Loved his character before he became leader. Narration is not nearly as enjoyable as mcloud.

Long and drawn out

I loved the story, but at the end, it felt a little repetitive and like Messenger was using the same ideas over and over.

The way Shannon Messenger put the story and grew the plot was truly amazing, I really enjoyed this book.

note, spoilers ahead

dear god this super edition is the worst one out currently, even worse than yellowfang's secret or leopardstar's honor. at least leopardstar's perspective was interesting and made her unlikable and morally questionable character more complex and interesting. this book just made onestar seem like a complete coward and horrible horrible character with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. it makes you completely hate him

and at the end of this book of onestar making bad decision after bad decision, having him end up in starclan and all is forgiven just feels so unearned and frustrating

not to mention the whole early hint of darktail being some evil-from-birth type villain is so disappointing. but I guess the writers had to do that so they could justify onestar doing what he did, because oh his son was BORN evil, it had nothing to do with onestar being a piece of garbage. darktail, tigerstar, brokenstar, the list goes on of "just born bad!" warriors villains. add another to the pile

I really, really dont like this book. honestly there are a lot of other issues with it but the above mentioned are the most glaring. the narrator did a good job though

Took an already bad character and made him worse
