When war comes to your planet, you fight, but not everyone fights for the same side. While Charles, the Quinn Corporation’s beleaguered CEO, fights to navigate the political intrigues of the other powers on the planet, Moses Smokoska and his little brother abandon their father’s homestead to put on armor and learn what it means to go to war.

The war might be fought among the stars and in the air, but it will ultimately be won on the ground, man-to-man and sword-to-sword, across a continent that spans the world.

A great start to this military sci-fi series! Emerson Fortier did a great job with this book and definitely set us up for the rest of the series. This is the first I have read/listened to any of his work and I was not dissapointed. This book started off a bit slow but moved into an entertaining action soon enough. Believable characters, good plot and storyline, and a great military sci-fi. I look forward to reading and listening to book 2! Audio Version: M A Bray did a great job bringing the MCs to life.

The story is good for a first book in a series and the use of religion enhanced character development without being preachy.

A good start for a potentially great series

This is more of a space opera than military sci-fi. Not as much action as the cover would make you think, though there is one large battle in it. The author does throw some Christianity at you with one of the character and it can be a bit in your face. Its not to bad though. All in all I did enjoy the listen. I will look forward to the next book.

Good, not what I was expecting.

This was my first experience with Emerson Fortier's work, and I was entertained by the story. The author has written about a planet whose inhabitants were involved in a war. There were two major protagonists who chose to fight in the war in different ways. I enjoyed Moses' story, but I thought that he was almost too perfect as he didn't seem to have any defects. M. A. Bray's narration was good, and his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Good Christian Science Fiction

Bit less action than I expected, however, I looked it up and saw that this is a 5 book series. Its definitely building to more. I listened to all of it today while working and it was enjoyable. M A Bray does a good job with the many characters. Would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed!
