“If you’re not ready to lay it all on the line out here, you won’t make it a week. The wasteland’ll chew you up and spit you out.”

Clay Jaeger finally has the chance to become the spellslinger he always wanted to be—the one his family needs him to be to survive the dangers of the wasteland. A teacup pig claiming to be a cursed Great Blue Wyrm has offered them a quest to take out a Dungeon Lord with the exact power set Clay’s been looking for.

There’s just one problem. The Dungeon Lord can steal the souls of his enemies and summon them to fight his battles for him.

Clay is more than willing to lay down his life to protect his family, but is he willing to risk his eternal soul on a gamble that might not pay off? Time to roll the dice and find out…

Generally well written and excellently performed by Travis Baldree. I do have a MAJOR complaint though: The "Yeager Squad" consistently ignores loot drops.

In the first book, they were looting as befits the genre. Now, they completely ignore both major loots (e.g., from dungeon bosses) and minor (e.g., a wand dropped from a Plague Doctor's hand as they fall to the floor, dead). And, like salt in the wound, after ignoring "piles of gold & silver" along with "a host of magic items" the Squad is then strapped for money. WTH - If a trope is to be so violated, there must be an explicit justification. So far, not in this story line.

Fun & Well Paced, But...

A great story. we'll told. I really like the balance between, a good story with depth and trying to be very deep or dramatic.
Tons of Fun! I can't put it down!

It is FUN!

Great book #3! All our characters are where they want to be. And just when you think it might be a happy ending...Surprise! Cliffhanger!!
Good thing the next book is out in 2 days 😆 I'm looking forward to continuing this storyline!!

Great book #3!

I liked this book. It was a great continuation of the series. I really liked the progression. But now bacon bits and chunk are fine for my favorite character. I’m off to find the fourth book. Great series. Terrific narration.

I liked this third book. Great characters.
