From the #1 bestselling author of The Thursday Murder Club Series

A brand new mystery. An iconic new detective duo. And a thrilling new murder to solve . . .

Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He still does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar routines: the pub quiz, his favorite bench, his cat waiting for him at home. His days of adventure are over. Adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s job now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. Working in private security, every day is dangerous. She’s currently on a remote island protecting mega-bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio, until a dead body and a bag of money mean trouble in paradise. So she sends an SOS to the only person she trusts . . .

As a thrilling race around the world begins, can Amy and Steve outrun and outsmart a killer?

Solving murders. It’s a family business.

Editorial Review

A retired detective, a kick-ass bodyguard, and a cat named Trouble
I always feel a dash of anxiety when one of my favorite authors kicks off something totally new, but the fantastic new series starter from Richard Osman does not disappoint. There are some familiar tropes at play: retiree Steve Wheeler dabbling in investigatory work, a diverse cast of characters who come together over pints and trivia. But he ups the ante with Steve's daughter-in-law Amy, a truly hardcore veteran-turned-bodyguard who works for an elite protection contractor. And the murders these two find themselves needing to solve are epic and global in scale. In true Osman form, the dialogue is punchy, fast-paced, and smart, making this listen completely impossible to put down thanks to Nicola Walker's adroit and vibrant narration. — Emily C., Audible Editor

Characters interesting, plot ok, performance good. Not as appealing to me as the Thursday Murder Club, a but too much zooming around the world and large number of characters to keep track of Of course, I was doing things while I was listening, so there's that.

Wish there had been another Thursday Murder Club book.

Richard Osman is such a clever storyteller. I enjoyed every minute of this audiobook. The characters are so well developed, I loved all of them, just like I love the cheeky pensioners in Sunday Murder Club. Mr Osman just seems to really get people, especially what makes people wonderful, even while solving murders.

Love. Just love. Can’t wait for the next one.

I liked the characters, twists and humor. Richard Osman really knows how to keep you guessing. I also appreciate his ability to create characters without going overboard to caricature. Looking forward to reading more stories with Steve, Amy and Rosie.
