Kurt Vonnegut made his mark as one of America’s most influential writers with novels such as Slaughterhouse Five, named one of the 100 best English-language novels by Time. Published posthumously, While Mortals Sleep is a collection of 16 short stories, written early in Vonnegut’s career, that further cements his status as an American literary icon.

The flow of the book is amazing and stories weave in and out. You see them develop and just enjoy the ride.

A few good stories. Many felt old. Others felt incomplete. Some just downright weird. Overall, not for me. I wasn’t motivated to complete the collection. Narration felt tiresome and slow. Had to increase speed to get through the stories I did complete.

Did not hold my interest

it's a book of short stories and the story titles are not in the table of contents. it's not one chapter power story either. Voice acting was great. The writing style is a bit old fashioned.

how about story titles?

Vonnegut without any holds barred is extremely refreshing stuff, particularly after all the self-censorship in these very politically-prickly days. His is a voice we can trust because it is unafraid to speak out against injustice and cruelty.

I just could not stay interested, nor could I determine if I was listening to several short stories, or was just not getting it. I love Vonnegut, but I'd give this one a pass.
