Whisper was the protector of the refugees. Between her and Eliphas, Whisper’s childhood friend and prince, their refuge was the perfect combination of safety. However, nothing is guaranteed when hiding from Riviki soldiers. Especially when it comes to Gods. Septimius showed up, crashing into the town center, threatening Whisper’s people, and claiming godhood. When Whisper would not back down, bow, or grovel at his feet, Septimius attempted to kill her, but failed. Now, Whisper and Septimius are bound together, forced to figure out their bond, his dissension from the heavens, and who Whisper actually is.

Whispers of the Storm delivers sweet banter paired with a well-paced slow burn. The characters are more fleshed out than in book one, which made the story much more engaging overall. The FMC really shines here—strong, confident, and full of sass.
Once again, the narrator does an excellent job of bringing the story to life. For a shorter installment, it does a great job setting up the broader arc of the series.

I didn't realise this was the second in a series but I could follow the story well even without having read the first installment.

I really loved the narrator though. the different accents were excellent and I enjoyed the variety in the voices
