This is Jack London's companion piece to The Call of the Wild and is the story of the life of a dog who is mostly wolf. Set in the Canadian wilderness during the Gold Rush, the tale opens with his birth in the wild and subsequent deliverance to a Mackenzie Indian named Grey Beaver. We follow him growing from puppyhood among the Indians, through a career as a "fighting wolf" for a despicable owner, to his ulltimate rescue by a kindly Southerner.

A classic

The narration is very clear and expressive but not overdone. The story is a classic.

A classic story with decent narration. Great listen for the whole family. The boys loved it. This is our second time through this story in the last few years.

A True Classic

A story for all ages. Masterful storytelling and a narrator delivering in the manner, I imagine, Jack London intended.

Very good book!

I appreciate the way London presents the taming of the wild dog, and the animal's acclamation to living with man.

My first Jack London book but definitely not my last! Its almost like London was a dog in another life.
