Every man was once a boy. And every little boy has dreams, big dreams: dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress. Every little girl has dreams, too: of being rescued by her prince and swept up into a great adventure, knowing that she is the beauty.

But what happens to those dreams when we grow up? Walk into most churches, have a look around, and ask yourself: What is a Christian man? Without listening to what is said, look at what you find there. Most Christian men are...bored.

In Wild at Heart, John Eldredge invites men to recover their masculine heart, defined in the image of a passionate God. And he invites women to discover the secret of a man's soul and to delight in the strength and wildness men were created to offer.

Critic reviews

"The exceptional writing and ideational balance (and a sensitive interpretation by Kelly Dolan) make this a compelling effort to integrate the hero's gritty nature with the public good." (AudioFile)

It should be well understood that King David is made reference of 1028 times. This is a bloody man of war which Christ will precede. Christianity is the equivalent of Saving Private Ryan, D-Day in Normandy. I suggest that the audio and the written text be engaged together for optimal affect. This is the place where Real Men stand valiantly in truth and honor.

Braveheart ! Alas !

First two chapters were great, loved the premise.
But the book seemed to drone on, got pretty redundant towards the end. Seemed to lose the plot. Certain conclusions I found myself disagreeing with

Giving it 3 stars though because it is a much needed book and would help many. Just didn't vibe with me personally.

Critical for me when growing up as a man 20+ years ago and still true to this day.

Fantastic

This book is filled with truth and is a powerful tool to draw yourself closer to God and to help understand who we are as men and to clarify our deepest needs and how those needs are met. I recommend this a book to read or listen to once every year or two and apply it’s principles.

Amazing and powerful
