Great Second Chance Romance

I really enjoyed this second chance romance of two men who used to be friends until one felt betrayed by the other. Jake and Andreas meet up again when Andreas needs Jake's help protecting his child. I really liked watching them develop their relationship all over again both as friends and lovers. The narrator did a great job with the characters and with the story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Loved It!

This is a fast-paced, engaging story that I couldn’t stop listening to. The authors have crafted a story with intriguing characters, a bit of mystery and suspense, and of course love. All the elements are found within this story for an entertaining reading experience. The narrator does a nice job of bringing the characters to life.

Fast-paced 3.5-star romantic suspense rounded up

Andreas and Jake have a history. It’s a painful one, but Jake puts aside his anger and resentment to take on Andreas’s case. He realizes, as the investigation continues, that the Andreas who betrayed their friendship all those years ago isn’t the same as the man he’s becoming reacquainted with. And as Andreas discovers, the feelings he had had for Jake even back then have not disappeared. The love comes quickly but is understandable given that they’ve known and had feelings for each other since high school. I found the premise for the suspense part pretty thin, with Andreas and his daughter being threatened and baited because he chose to testify against a friend. Then, there were some time inconsistencies specifically around Andreas’s marriage and his daughter’s age and the feud that started in high school. Also, the narrator’s performance felt a little rushed; he read as though he were in a race.

good listen

Jake had feelings for Andreas when they were young.
However, he turns from his friendship with Andreas when his sister is accosted and Andreas defends the folks who hurt her. Jake decides he never wants to see Andreas again and moves on with his life, well sort of. Andreas finds himself in a pickle and he approaches Jake for help and forgiveness. This was an awesome book brought to life with the sound of Robin in your ears.

good story.. good narrator.. very fast paced and interesting. kept me curious to know what was next and i enjoyed it
