Alexander Kempthorne has one more secret to tell, but it could cost him everything. Including Dom.

With new names and new lives, Dom and Kempthorne should be living their happy ending, but it's not over yet.

Kage Mitchell knows they're alive and he's discovered the single most devastating secret Kempthorne has yet to tell Dom.

There is no other option. Kage Mitchell must die.

But he's the least of Kempthorne's concerns. With their identities revealed, and a war brewing between latents and normals, the shadows are on the rise once again, and an old threat awakens beneath London. A threat that could change latents, and the world, forever.

Kempthorne has spent his whole life running from his past. But now, the past is back, and alone, Kempthorne's not strong enough to win this fight. When the terrible truth is revealed, will Dom forgive him enough to fight with him?

Contains mature themes.

I have enjoyed every book in this series. The relationship between Dom and Alex is at the core of the story, and Ariana Nash does a beautiful job of developing that relationship. The world Nash has constructed poses some interesting questions about the nature of bigotry. The persistent 'lock up latents' sentiment was a bit frustrating for me because I feel that some pushback from the general populace would have added balance to the story. Although Alex and Dom had non-latent friends helping them, I kept hoping more people would recognize the hypocrisy in the legal system's approach to justice.

Plenty of unexpected revelations occurred in this volume of the series. I had suspicions about a few, but I was still surprised by others. The resolution was mostly satisfying, but I still had a few unanswered questions. I also wanted vengeance on a few of the antagonists, but that might just be my blood thirsty streak. The story still has potential to continue with the dangling plot threads that are reminiscent of the comic books, to which this story has some similarities. "Cough,"  Gambit from the X-Men, is nothing like Dom, "cough."  Anyway...

The narration was wonderful, and I look forward to more books narrated by Cornell Collins and written by Ariana Nash.

Good story. Good narration.

Dom and Alex have a few surprises thrown at them this time around. Overall, this was an enjoyable series, and I'm happy with the way it concluded, even with some of the creepiest pieces of their past coming for a visit.

Satisfying conclusion to the series
