Does Imogen Dislike Americans?

I want to start with…. Imogen Church has always been a fave narrator for me. I love the huskiness of her voice. But I was stunned when it came to the American accents. I couldn’t believe it. Did I miss where the accents were supposed to be bad? I just have so many questions. The story was good, but that’s definitely what was grinding my gears the whole time. Judah from Brooklyn lololol

Imogen Church's Impeccable Narration

I dont understand why one of the biggest British thriller writers tends to write her heroines as gullible, moronic, idiotic women who lack even a shred of common sense. It made me not want to root for this heroine and worse still to believe that any tragedy she encompassed was brought on entirely of her own accord, basically deserving the bad things that happen to her. I dislike feeling that way about someone I'm supposed to be on side with. Unless, of course, that is the point. Maybe dont waste a credit. I ADORE Ruth Ware which is why I did.

The voices drove me a little crazy

I was a bit fan of The Woman in Cabin 10, and I’m a Ruth Ware fan in general but this second book while it tied in very well to the first, not too much and not too little, had a lot of ups and downs and was almost a little too long. The long novel was made a bit more challenging by the narrator whose voices for some of the characters really short changed them, particularly Judah and the the children. Over all the story line was great and kept me stunned through the end as always but I perhaps would have maybe enjoyed this book more if I had read it myself rather than listened to the audiobook version.

Not up to standard

Lots of unneeded f-bombs. Without giving away anything there were so many plot holes it was a Swiss cheese of a book. The story wobbled along and was not a typical Ruth Ware thriller. I have listened to almost every book narrated by Imogene Church and they have all been great. This one was not. Her interpretation of American accents was dreadful to the point of being painful. This is a case of stick with what you know and do well, Ms Church should never ever do another reading with US accents or children’s voices. In this case read the book and don’t listen to it.

Worst narration ever.

I DNF this because the narrators impressions/voices were *that* bad. I love Ruth Ware but could not endure this. Sad I wasted a credit.
