Two federal agents, one from ATF and one from the FBI arrive in Smoke Tree. They seek the help of Captain Carlos Caballo of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in finding thieves who have stolen a shipment of hundreds of AR-15 semi-automatic rifles from a moving train. Sheriff's Deputy Johnny Quentin goes undercover to assist.

Strangely Disjointed Story

I liked the way the story started out but it became increasingly disjointed. Characterization was pretty predictable. The worst part was the AI narrative. The inflections and pronunciation were terrible and really took away from the story. It became totally lifeless. I cannot recommend this to anyone- maybe reading the book would be ok.

For fans of the Desert

I enjoyed how he uses the flora and fauna as well as the landscape to weave his stories.Hreat characters also.

Characters, story, descriptions of the Desert.

Liked hearing story about the now familiar characters, the story it self was engaging and descriptions of my beloved desert. Appreciated básic French and Spanish, which I understand.

A great storytelling tale

The way the plot keeps switching back and forth between characters and keeping them connected in the story.

I enjoyed the plot/story line and character development.

The reading was with very little emotion. AI reading was dry. Would have preferred human emotions included in the reading.
