But pioneer life proves very hard for her. Living is crude. She helps in the building of what will be their home but finds the loneliness where they have settled oppressive. The dangers are many and constant. But despite the hardships, despite the dangers, Lucinda remains strong. She is determined to not only endure but also to triumph.

Good story.

I'm 74 and have loved reading many many years so I should have read a Zane Grey book before but this is my first. I will listen to this book again.

My all time favorite of Zane Grey

This is like a cowboy version of the Odyssey. The trials and tribulations the two main characters face.... it's a beautiful story. I highly recommend it!

Good, basic story. Good characters.

This is a true classic western novel from Zane Gray. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it on my way to Colorado. No surprises, but that is ok....it was a good story, with good characters.

Excellent listen

Story of settling the Arizona frontier as seen through the eyes of a frontier wife. Excellent story. Well written and heartbreaking at times.
