As a freelance writer, Jack Naile was used to getting an occasional letter from one of his readers, but when one of those readers sent him a clipping from a magazine, it would not only change his life, but could alter the course of history as well.

The clipping had a photo, taken in Nevada in 1903, of a street scene, including a story with a sign, "Jack Naile - General Merchandise". Intrigued, Jack phoned the Nevada town's historian and asked for more information. When the historian sent him a photo of the 19th century Jack Naile, what had seemed like an interesting coincidence immediately became much more bizarre.

The four people in the photo, dressed in the style of the time, were unmistakably Jack, his wife, and their grown son and teenage daughter. Jack decided he would have to take a trip to that town to investigate further. And if he and his family were somehow going to travel back in time, he was going to be prepared - and be well-armed.

Contains mature themes.

Wow! I have to be honest and say I had a hard time getting into this story because of the narrator. He might be better for another type of read. He reminded me of Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club when he was telling us about his Christmas morning gift… a carton of cigarettes.. “ Smoke up Johnny!” Very robotic. And unlike Judd’s character who was being angry and sarcastic about his story, this readers robotic read was VERY distracting! HOWEVER, the story… THE STORY was AWESOME. THE AHERNS weaved a wonderful and different time travel tale that carries you away into the story…. THAT is what saved this recording… once you can get past the narration. I’ve listened to this book twice because I enjoyed the STORY so much. They masterfully weaved the old west into 20th century technology and back again. A storyline I often wondered about myself. What would it be like to travel back in time, live that life knowing what I knew about the future. I’d love to see more stories like this one, or a continuation of WRITTEN IN TIME, by the AHERN’s! A very enjoyable and satisfying tale, even with a bad narration. Dont let the narration stop you from this creative story!
