Enforcer and drug dealer Fernando has seen better days. On his way home from work, some heavily-tattooed gangsters throw him in the back of a car and take him to an abandoned house, where they saw off his friend's head and feed the kid's fingers to...something. Their message is clear: this is their territory, now. But Fernando isn't put down that easily. Using the assistance of a Santeria priestess, an insane Puerto Rican pop sensation, a very human dog, and a Russian hitman, he'll build the courage (and firepower) he'll need to fight a gangbanger who's a bit more than human... I love Iglesia’s’ work and while this is a far cry from The Devil Takes You Home, I still enjoyed myself. This is my second book from him, but I’ve already bought his catalog. He is a voice that we need right now. Even if this felt early and a bit amateur, I didn’t mind going back and seeing him begin. It’s The Gunslinger to his eventual Dark Tower. Recommended!

An incredible author’s first work

Few things excite me more than going backwards with an author I’ve come to love. Ever since Coyote Songs, Zero Saints had been on my TBR. I don’t listen to audiobooks often, but I’m glad I heard this story this way. Jean-Marc’s performance is great, and the story moves quick as it moves you. It’s exactly as you’d expect from a Gabino literary romp: a powerful mix of elements and language that transport you and, for me, forever change my rides through Austin.

It was very slow and the narrator were more distracting than good. I think it requires better narrators

Not quite catching
