How do we operate and thrive as a community without banks?

And how do we do this in a way that redistributes wealth and acknowledges the many ways Black and brown folks have been systematically locked out of building wealth?

This is just SOME of what we get into on this episode of the podcast, where we talk about alternative economies, specifically community funding structures.

This practice, formally known as a rotating savings and credit association (ROSCA), has over 200 different names that vary from country to country.

I first heard about ROSCA's (or susu in Nigeria) about 8 years ago from a dear acquaintance in my New Haven social justice community, and I invited today's guest to come on to the podcast and share all the details of how to run them with you.

Farron Harvey is a facilitator of wealth redistribution systems and a social justice movement builder (doing this for 18 years or since they were a teenager!) for organizations and individuals looking to grow in integrity with their mission and values.

What I thought was going to be a straightforward episode on how to run and facilitate a susu ended up being a mind-blowing conversation around wealth distribution and equity.
