  • Captured Without Consent: Russian Man Sexually Exploits Women in Kenya and Ghana
    Mar 26 2026

🎙️ Episode Description: Crimes of Nubia

In this chilling episode of Crimes of Nubia, we uncover the disturbing case of a Russian man accused of sexually exploiting African women across Ghana and Kenya—not through force alone, but through deception, manipulation, and violation of trust.

Posing as a tourist and self-proclaimed “pick-up artist,” he allegedly approached women in public spaces, built quick connections, and invited them into private settings—where encounters that appeared consensual were secretly recorded without their knowledge.

Authorities say these intimate videos were then distributed online and monetized, turning real women into content without consent.

Some reports suggest he used hidden recording devices, including camera-fitted glasses, further deepening the calculated nature of the abuse.

  • Celebrating South Sudanese Culture, Tradition, & Identity After War and Colonization 🇸🇸 | ft. Dr. Akuot
    Mar 17 2026

What does it really mean to be South Sudanese? And who gets to define what our culture looks like?

In this episode of Ladies of Sosa, hosts Sahra and Christine sit down with Dr. Akuot for an in-depth conversation about South Sudanese culture, marriage traditions, and identity.

The discussion was sparked by a comment claiming that South Sudanese people shouldn’t have henna nights or Sudanese-style weddings because they are “not Sudanese.” But the conversation quickly opens into something much bigger.

    Together, we explore:

    • What defines South Sudanese culture
    • Traditional marriage customs and wedding practices
    • The role of families, elders, and community in marriage
    • The shared history of Sudan and South Sudan before 2011
    • How culture exists beyond political borders
    • The experience of South Sudanese identity in the diaspora
    • The idea of cultural gatekeeping and who gets to claim traditions

South Sudan is the youngest country in the world, yet its cultures and traditions are deeply rooted in history. This episode explores how identity, heritage, and traditions continue to evolve across generations and across borders.

Whether you're part of the South Sudanese diaspora or simply curious to learn more about the culture, this conversation offers insight, history, and perspective.
