• Captured Without Consent: Russian Man Sexually Exploits Women in Kenya and Ghana
    Mar 26 2026

🎙️ Episode Description: Crimes of Nubia

In this chilling episode of Crimes of Nubia, we uncover the disturbing case of a Russian man accused of sexually exploiting African women across Ghana and Kenya—not through force alone, but through deception, manipulation, and violation of trust.

Posing as a tourist and self-proclaimed “pick-up artist,” he allegedly approached women in public spaces, built quick connections, and invited them into private settings—where encounters that appeared consensual were secretly recorded without their knowledge.

Authorities say these intimate videos were then distributed online and monetized, turning real women into content without consent.

Some reports suggest he used hidden recording devices, including camera-fitted glasses, further deepening the calculated nature of the abuse.

  • Celebrating South Sudanese Culture, Tradition, & Identity After War and Colonization 🇸🇸 | ft. Dr. Akuot
    Mar 17 2026

What does it really mean to be South Sudanese? And who gets to define what our culture looks like?

In this episode of Ladies of Sosa, hosts Sahra and Christine sit down with Dr. Akuot for an in-depth conversation about South Sudanese culture, marriage traditions, and identity.

The discussion was sparked by a comment claiming that South Sudanese people shouldn’t have henna nights or Sudanese-style weddings because they are “not Sudanese.” But the conversation quickly opens into something much bigger.

    Together, we explore:

    • What defines South Sudanese culture
    • Traditional marriage customs and wedding practices
    • The role of families, elders, and community in marriage
    • The shared history of Sudan and South Sudan before 2011
    • How culture exists beyond political borders
    • The experience of South Sudanese identity in the diaspora
    • The idea of cultural gatekeeping and who gets to claim traditions

South Sudan is the youngest country in the world, yet its cultures and traditions are deeply rooted in history. This episode explores how identity, heritage, and traditions continue to evolve across generations and across borders.

Whether you're part of the South Sudanese diaspora or simply curious to learn more about the culture, this conversation offers insight, history, and perspective.

  • The Murder of Kenyan Olympian Agnes Tirop | Crimes of Nubia Femicide, Control, and the Red Flags Too Many Ignore
    Mar 12 2026

    About Crimes of Nubia
Crimes of Nubia is a true-crime series from Ladies of Sosa highlighting stories affecting African and African diaspora communities that are often overlooked in mainstream media.

Hosted by Sahra and Elesa, the podcast explores crime, justice, culture, and social issues through a deeper lens.

In 2021, the world of athletics was shaken when record-breaking Kenyan runner Agnes Tirop was found brutally murdered in her home. At just 25 years old, she was one of the fastest women in the world and a rising global star.

But behind the medals and international recognition was a relationship many now believe showed warning signs of control, jealousy, and violence.

In this episode of Crimes of Nubia, hosts Sahra and Elesa examine the life, achievements, and tragic death of Agnes Tirop — and the deeper conversation about femicide, intimate partner violence, and the red flags that often go ignored until it’s too late.

This story is not just about a crime.
It’s about a champion whose life was cut short and the urgent need to talk about violence against women across the world.

Viewer discretion advised: This episode discusses domestic violence and femicide.

    In This Episode

    • The rise of Agnes Tirop in global athletics
    • The events leading up to her murder
    • The investigation and arrest of the suspect
    • Red flags in abusive relationships
    • The global conversation around femicide and violence against women

Agnes Tirop was more than a headline. She was a champion, a daughter, and an inspiration.

Her story deserves to be told.

  • When “Accountability” Sounds Like Hate: Our Response to Myron Gaines
    Jan 13 2026

In this episode of Ladies of Sosa, we respond directly to podcaster Myron Gaines after he reacted to a clip from our show. What followed was not dialogue or critique—but the use of racist language and a familiar claim of “calling out the Black community.” We take a step back to unpack what’s really happening in moments like these.

Together, we break down the red pill manosphere, its contradictions, its obsession with control, and how it often disguises disrespect and dehumanization as accountability and “truth.” We discuss why these spaces thrive on outrage, how they fuel gender wars, and why attacking Black women is repeatedly framed as community service.

This episode isn’t about trading insults or chasing clout. It’s about naming patterns, challenging harmful narratives, and asking real questions: Who is actually being helped? Who is being harmed? And why is accountability so often demanded from everyone except the loudest voices in the room?

If you’re tired of bad-faith arguments, recycled talking points, and conversations that punch down instead of build up—this one’s for you.

  • Understanding Racism, Colorism, and Identity in Sudan Through the Film "Goodbye Julia" (Full Review)
    Jan 6 2026

In this episode of Ladies of Sosa, we sit down with a panel to unpack the powerful film Goodbye Julia and the uncomfortable truths it brings to the surface. Through honest conversation, we explore the deeply rooted racism, colorism, and discrimination portrayed in the film, especially between North and South Sudanese communities, and how silence often allows harm to continue unchecked.

Our panel reflects on guilt, complicity, and the emotional weight carried by women in systems built on inequality. We also connect the film’s themes to real-life experiences in the diaspora, examining how these same dynamics show up today and why addressing them openly is necessary for healing and accountability.

This episode isn’t about blame, it’s about truth, reflection, and starting conversations many of us were taught to avoid.

  • Divided by Design: How Misinformation Fuels Gender Wars in the Diaspora
    Dec 23 2025

Why does it feel like Black men and Black women are constantly at odds online? And why do those loud internet battles rarely reflect real life?

In this episode of Ladies of Sosa, we unpack how misinformation and disinformation are intentionally fueling gender wars across the Black diaspora. From viral relationship takes and cherry-picked statistics to rage-bait podcasts and social media algorithms, we explore how false and exaggerated narratives are shaping how we see each other—and ourselves.

We break down the difference between misinformation and disinformation in plain language, trace how historical trauma and media manipulation make our communities especially vulnerable, and examine who actually benefits when Black men and women are divided. Most importantly, we talk about the real-life impact: dating mistrust, internalized misogynoir and misandry, cultural shame, and growing generational gaps.

This conversation isn’t about silencing real issues or avoiding accountability. It’s about learning how to spot manipulation, reclaim our stories, and move toward healthier, more honest conversations rooted in truth, context, and community healing.

If you’ve ever felt confused, frustrated, or exhausted by online gender discourse, this episode is for you.

Because division didn’t happen by accident—and healing won’t either.
