This week we hand the mic to Paul Booth, Sports and Performance Nutritionist and Lead Nutritionist for the Salomon International Team. Paul has played a huge role in the success of elite trail runners like Ruth Croft and Tom Evans, both of whom stormed to victory at the 2025 UTMB.

He’s an academic, yes, but thankfully he speaks human. Even we managed to take on board some brilliant, practical advice to make training and racing a little kinder on the gut.

We loved this chat, and if you’re someone who regularly battles nausea, bloating, or the dreaded dash to the bushes, you might find it genuinely helpful too. More Northern Traverse training, and Gary is starting to feel the strain. The trails are stunning enough to make the miles drift by, but the sheer volume—and the constant need to stay upright, are beginning to take their toll.
