  • Lydia Bedford departs Calgary Wild while Ali Musse rejoins Cavalry FC
    Mar 13 2026

We talk about two massive stories from the Calgary soccer scene this week. Calgary Wild head coach Lydia Bedford resigned from the club to take the head coaching job of England's women's U23 team. We discuss this shocking turn of events and what the Wild executive might do to handle this situation.

Cavalry FC had a more positive story this week in that Ali Musse re-signed with the club. Musse is one of the greatest players in Cavalry history, but his return seemed doubtful at the end of last season as his contract ended. We discuss what led to his return and how that will affect the Cavs in 2026.

Our interview this week is with Jerson Barandica-Hamilton, who is the head coach of the University of Saskatchewan women's soccer team. The U of S team has many Calgarians on the roster and a bunch of them will be joining the Saskatchewan representative team at futsal nationals in Calgary in April.

Bim Pepple keeps scoring for Plymouth Argyle. Will he get the call to join Canada for their upcoming friendlies? We talk about it.

But she's well on the road to recovery and has signed for the Wild. We catch up with her and cover these topics and if she feels any additional pressure by playing for her hometown team.

James McGlinchey made his Canada debut as the U20 team qualified for the next round of the CONCACAF U20 tournament. It was a bit of a quiet week in the training camps of Cavalry FC and the Calgary Wild. Several players are away on international duty, and we talk about some of their upcoming matches.

  • Mya Jones returns home and signs for the Calgary Wild
    Feb 20 2026

The Calgary Wild made a big splash this week by signing Calgarian Mya Jones to a contract. Jones is considered one of the best women's soccer players the city has ever produced. We talk about her potential impact both on and off the pitch.

The Wild signed former Montreal Rose Allie Hess and introduced their new goalkeeping coach, who makes the move from Spruce Meadows to McMahon Stadium. Meanwhile, Cavalry FC announced their own new goalkeeping coach and a tryout for a Ukrainian right back who fled the war and has been living in Edmonton. We also have info about Wild and Cavalry call ups for the international window.

Our interview this week is with Daler Tokhirov. He's part of a trend that we've been seeing the last couple of years where Calgarians continue their soccer careers in Australia and New Zealand. We also have updates on a few more players, including Bim Pepple and his fantastic form in England where he's scored 6 goals in his last 8 matches.

  • "Hoo" are the Vermont Wild?
    Feb 13 2026

Cavalry FC and the Calgary Wild continue their preparations for the 2026 season. The Cavs signed a couple more players in Nathaniel Edwards and Curtis Ofori. We talk about how they fit into the club. Can Edwards perhaps be Fraser Aird's replacement?

Meanwhile, the Calgary Wild announced the signing of GK Molly Race and they have a couple more signed players that haven't been announced yet. That would mean they have 23 of 25 roster spots filled. We talk about what types of players they should be looking for to fill those final spots.

We also chat about the Vermont Wild, who are a newly announced team in the WPSL, which is a women's amateur league in the United States. Their logo and use of an owl seems very similar to the Calgary Wild. Are they an affiliated club? Or should we expect some Calgary intellectual property lawyers to start making some calls to Vermont?

The Calgary Minor Soccer Association is holding their massive Family Day weekend tournament and this year it's bigger than ever. We talk about the huge scope of this event with 320 teams playing over 530 matches on the long weekend.

We also provide some updates about Calgarians playing soccer around the world such as Sebastian Dzikowski, Elijah Adekugbe, Charles Nana, Willie Akio and Adam Huskic.

  • Harry Paton and the 100th Cavalry signing
    Feb 6 2026

Training camps have begun for Cavalry FC and the Calgary Wild. We also saw the release of the CPL and NSL schedules this week.

Cavalry held their open tryouts last week and Jason had a chance to watch some of the action. He also did a short interview with technical director/assistant coach Jay Wheeldon about these tryouts.

Cavalry announced some roster moves with the signing of midfielder Harry Paton, who is the 100th signing in club history. The club also announced the transfer of Callum Montgomery and the official departures of Fraser Aird and Nicholas Wahling. We talk about what the addition of Paton could mean for the midfield and speculate about who could replace Aird at right back.

The Calgary Wild announced the departure of GK Jackie Burns. We also analyze the high level of continuity that most NSL teams have going into the league's second season.

The Canadian national futsal championships are coming back to Calgary in April, Kendall Showers leads her club to new heights in Greece and we track down a couple more Calgarians playing overseas.

  • Cavalry, Wild announce signings with training camps approaching
    Jan 23 2026

We're back for our first episode of 2026. Training camps for both the Wild and Cavalry will be starting soon, and both clubs are making roster moves.

Cavalry has signed Nate Ingham and Amer Didic, and has said farewell to several players including Shamit Shome. We discuss these moves and speculate on players who could join the team prior to the start of training. We also discuss Tommy Wheeldon Jr's stint with the Canadian National Team in California.

The Calgary Wild haven't made much noise about signing new players yet, but they did announce they are bringing in American keeper Katelyn Talbert. We also found out about the departure of sporting director Alix Bruch. Is Lydia Bedford getting more actively involved in player recruitment and signing? It looks like the Wild are going to retain about 80% of their roster from 2025, which didn't make the playoffs. Should they just be tweaking or do they really need a roster overhaul?

We also provide some updates about Calgarians joining clubs around the world, including Chanan Chanda, Myla and Emma Schneider and Finn Linder among others. And we discuss the results of the Voyageurs Cup draw. Cavalry faces Pacific (again) and the Blizzard go to Montreal to face a MLS club.
