The 1950s or fifties is referred to as the beginning of the Golden Age of American capitalism. Income grew and many Americans entered the middle class that made up about 60 percent of Americans who were neither very rich nor very poor. Many could afford to travel, buy houses and own cars.

Very few computer failures were reported when the clocks rolled over into 2000. Still, the decade was to have advances, worries, and disasters.

Some historians refer to the United States 2010’s as the “Social Media Decade”. Social media involved the use of interactive devices like cell phones and computers. This media allowed the creation, sharing, and exchange of information using text or images. It was a decade of advances, disasters, and conflicts.
