When Kelly volunteers to take a troop of tourists to visit Vickie Claymore's alpaca farm, she discovers Fort Connor isn't as sedate as it seems. Instead of a warm welcome, they find Vickie splayed out on her original hand-woven rug, her blood seeping into the design. The police jump on the case, but Kelly can't resist doing a little investigation work of her own.

Kelly and Megan could not be happier for their friend Allison Dubois - a young, talented, up-and-coming artist. Invited by a designer to join her New York studio, Allison is about to embark on a new life. Shy, sweet, and pregnant, Nancy Marsted would like to knit a baby hat, and the Lambspun ladies are more than happy to show her the ropes. They share their own pregnancy yarns and soon learn that the father of Nancy's baby isn't quite the man she dreamed he was. He's a cad. Then one dark night a speeding car fatally mows down the dad-to-be and also strikes a cyclist, spinning the town into a frenzy.

The Lambspun Knitters are eagerly awaiting a bundle of joy but find themselves heaped with trouble instead! Kelly Flynn and her boyfriend, Steve, are expecting and couldn't be happier. Kelly's got the knitting group working away on blankets and booties, and the story of Giselle Callahan is a popular topic of conversation. Giselle is the young wife of Henry Callahan, a Fort Connor banking scion who traded in his previous wife of 40 years for a newer model.
