Venna's Planet

Venna’s Planet is the story of Venna 8632, a strong-willed, highly skilled, soldier-drilled woman on a mission in outer space, where gravity keeps you perky and the future appears to be rather retro.

Scrambled to engage enemy Krog ships, Venna and Shelly give chase, but when Shelly gets into difficulty Venna is prevented from saving her by commander and former lover Countess Galo. When forced to crash land on a planet called Paradise, Venna discovers it’s anything but....

Venna encounters a swamp monster that inconveniently eats her clothes; she then turns to a sprightly milkbug herder named Suhl for some much-needed help. Meanwhile, two Krogs - Geezur and Blok - are dispatched to capture the downed Venna. To a Krog, however, one human looks very much like another....

Venna gives chase in an effort to rescue the captured Suhl, but instead ends up right where the Countess wants her - just in time for her to arrive with Clayton, her engineer and budding inventor. Yet unknown to Clayton, the Countess has plans for him too....

In a desperate attempt to cover his mistake, Geezur plans to return Suhl to where he found her before he’s discovered, but the Krog admin is causing way more problems than his prisoner. Clayton and Venna’s situation is no better, being on the receiving end of some of the Countess’ painful and unpleasant experiments.

Drugged and tied up in the Interrogatron, Venna is horrified to learn the true origin of the Krogs and the Countess’ role in their creation. Clayton and Suhl find themselves imprisoned together in a storeroom - but the ever-resourceful Suhl has an escape plan in mind....

Venna runs into an old flame who’s now unrecognisable...and speaking of running, the various interlopers are doing quite a lot of it. Clayton and Suhl decide the safest place is back where they started, and Venna and Geezur realise there are significant gains to be had by joining forces.

Livid at Venna’s escape, the Countess tries another tack involving Controller Zoltan and the ‘fresh-off-ice’ recruit Marla. Aboard a stolen droner it’s not exactly plain sailing, and another bumpy landing is imminent - Clayton can help, but can he get over his Krog prejudices in time?

Another day, another crashed spaceship. Venna, Suhl, Geezur and Clayton crawl out of the wreckage into the jungle and a rather sticky encounter. On Suntreader, the Countess continues to manipulate Zoltan and prepares the ground for a new trap to ensnare Venna using the particularly unpleasant psychic skills of Jylda and Grust....

Dortha and Clyg prepare to spring the Countess’ trap with Shelly as bait; meanwhile Zoltan finds himself in a compromising position. Back on the planet’s surface, whilst battling hostile jungle and swamp monsters, Venna is receiving painful psychic communications from Shelly - she’s alive! But how will Venna get to Prime City so she can rescue her?

The Countess’ machinations continue with her defrosting a notorious killer, Knullius - who just happens to be the love of Jylda’s life. Meanwhile, under attack yet again from natives unhappy about a badly parked spaceship in their jungle, Venna and her friends are forced to fight. Outnumbered and outgunned, will they all make it out alive?
