Rick, an aging Vietnam veteran, alcoholic, and prepper, convinces Zach Gunderson that the apocalypse is on the horizon. The two of them take refuge at a remote farm. As the zombie plague rages, they face a terrifying fight for survival. They soon learn, however, that the walking dead are not the only monsters.

Zach Gunderson and his friends have carved out a life for themselves in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by zombies. But survival is a daily struggle. In addition to frequent encounters with hostile humans, Zach has discovered something very sinister about the zombies.

It's now two years since the zombie apocalypse changed the world. Survival is precarious for Zach Gunderson and his friends. They are encountering zombies who are evolving into something more than mindless automatons, and the group dynamic is threatened by the revelation of a murderer in their midst. They handle each situation in their own special manner, but a seemingly innocent encounter with a group of Marines leads to disastrous consequences.

It's been over two years since the zombie apocalypse changed the world. Zach Gunderson is still reeling after the brutal massacre of most of his loved ones and the abduction of his two children. There is only one person in his life now: Kelly, the sole survivor of the massacre. The two of them have carved out an existence for themselves, but in spite of Kelly's steadfast devotion, Zach finds himself questioning the purpose of trying to survive in a postapocalyptic world.

In the ongoing saga of the Zombie Rules series, Zach, his family and friends are lured from their home in Tennessee and relocate to a post-apocalyptic bunker known as Mount Weather, nestled in rural Virginia. They have been promised a better life by none other than the President himself. Zach's apparent immunity to the zombie virus may hold the key to creating a vaccine and securing a future for the human race.

Zach Gunderson and his family have made a home at Mount Weather. Everything seems to be working, and the president's dream of reestablishing the US is progressing, but then, disaster strikes. After being vaccinated, two survivor groups in Ohio become infected, unleashing an apparent new strain of the zombie virus. Through Zach's investigation, he finds a traitor in their midst who is trying to sabotage the rebirth of America by any means necessary.

It is the ninth year of the zombie apocalypse. Zach and his group of survivors at Mount Weather are struggling with the effects of no manufacturing and the difficulties of reestablishing the United States of America. To add to the difficulties, President Stark's position as president is being challenged. If he loses in the upcoming election, what will happen to his right-hand man, Zach Gunderson?

There has been a major upheaval at Mount Weather. The president has been assassinated. Her running mate, who was her husband, is sworn in as president in order to preserve democracy, but in only a short time his behavior has put the Mount Weather community in a state of turmoil. If that wasn't bad enough, Chinese soldiers have been discovered on American soil and the zeds, already an ever present danger, are continuing to show signs of cognition and teamwork. The motives of both are unknown but do not bode well for the survivors.

Zach is back at Mount Weather and has resumed his role as Director of Operations. In addition to working to make America functional again, and the upcoming birth of a child, Zach is faced with a new dilemma. The zeds are active again and attacking survivor communities. Zach knows the only course of action is to eradicate them, but how do they do it with their limited resources?
