Jack Calloway is the pumpkin-headed boogeyman of Hallow Hill. As the legend goes, he was a man of wicked tastes, devilish allure, and had a knack for dark magic. He and his lover—my ancestor—were tried as witches and burned at the stake at the edge of Hallow Hill’s pumpkin patch.

I do not know how Aiden Pierce manages to pack so much story into a 2.5 hour novella, but this is excellent. I’ve read the eye-version in the past and I have to say I enjoyed it even more on this audio re-read.

Autumn Alexander does a fantastic job narrating this book, voicing both Ada and Jack with distinct personalities and cadences. It’s rare for me to listen at a speed below 2.0, but I listened to this one at 1.5 because I enjoyed it so much that I wanted it to last. Alexander makes Ada’s thirst for Jack sing through the narration, and it’s impressive.

The story has so much packed in - it’s written intelligently and Ada’s personal backstory and family history help define her a character while her curiosity and openness are all uniquely hers. This also has one of the best examples of « who did this to you? » that I’ve ever read.

usually I'm a duet style listener. but I was very pleased with autumn alexanders performance. finally getting to listen to Jack coming alive and getting his adaline was spectacular.

Oh my god you guys 🥵 I needed a cool shower after this one. It made my Halloween for sure 🤤🤤 The story, the scenes?! Truly a masterpiece

A perfect story for the Halloween and beyond . For being such a short story it had plenty of spice and a decent plot. I really enjoyed listening to this audio. The narrator did wonderfully with Ada and jack and all the other characters. An amazing job overall.

I was so sad when it ended it was a great spooky listen during the holidays. Gave you everything you could ask for in a Halloween novella. The spicy was there but didn’t take away from the story at all. Recommend this one for anyone who needs a little pumpkin spice in their life.
