Kade and Hunter Caruthers.

Brothers. Twins.

My cousins.

In a way, they’re my family. Protective. Indulgent. My best friends. But there was something else there, too. That ever-present whisper that reminded me more as I got older that we didn’t actually share any blood.

They used to be inseparable. We all were, but not anymore. I don’t know why Hunter left or why he joined a rival team in Weston—that Rebel town across the river—to stand on the opposite side of the field from his brother, but Kade is out for blood now, and Hunter has finally decided to engage.

Rivalry Week.

Parades. Parties. Pranks.

And the Prisoner Exchange.

Weston will send a hostage to our school, and they’re taking me. I’m Hunter’s for two weeks. In a dilapidated brownstone on a nearly abandoned street with almost no supervision.

Ten days in an enemy school. Fourteen nights in a town full of bullies with no curfews and no rules.

And Hunter has no intention of protecting his little cousin anymore.

The Pirates will come for me. How can they not? A Pirate never sits out on the fun.

But I never needed protection or rescue, because a Pirate never runs, either.

Penelope Douglas has been the only author to keep my attention with this kind of plot style/pattern. I can absolutely see how P. Douglas stories can garner deep interest from a reader that is closer to the age of the MCs than myself. But she really shines in her ability to tug on strings of nostalgia for her more mature readers and weave a story that still creates that attachment to the characters and their hijinks.

I don’t want to wait for Hellbent 3!

Ok Penelope Douglas I see you....As I kept reading along, I realized she had characters from Credence in this one, now it makes me feel like I need to recheck Falls Boys to see if I missed something. Noah was completely unexpected as he told Dillon what lead him to the Falls.

Anyway MC's loved them. I enjoy when you read books and you see how things come full circle as the characters continue to grow after each epilogue. Dillon and Hunter have a great story together and throw Caden in who you think is a complete tool until you read the essay he submitted on Hunter's behalf for college. I like the way Jax and Fallen let her twins navigate through what their issues were. I am always all in on the Best Friends to Lover Trope which is what Hunter and Dillon are. They both want to be seen by the people around them and as the story goes on you realize as they realize they both have
misinterpreted the feelings they have for the other, and when they become each others first there is still so much second guessing, jealousy and misunderstanding they will eventually work out with each other and Caden.

Great series.

I have been rooting for Dylan and Hunter from the beginning!! I am so happy that Penelope made this come true. They are the true love story that we all want!

Hunter and Dylan have loved each other for so long, but they were so young, and feelings were confusing. Add in the twin brother of Hunter, Kade, and you have even more feelings going on.
Hunter goes away to another school away from everyone to try and get out of his brother's shadow. He finds himself with friends who have loyalty and trust. Someone to have his back.

Dylan sacrifices herself for a game between rival schools, and she doesn't know what she is getting herself into!

I love Hunter and Dylan together! These two could not be more perfect for each other. I devoured this book in a day.

I listened to this audio, and it was another good listen. The narrators were great, and I felt in the story with them.

I am so invested in the second generation and what comes for them. I loved the suspense you got more of in the second book.

Great Story

At first I just wanted to kill Dillon for being so clueless but nevertheless I loved it. On another note would love to read one about Kade and also one of Tommy

Loved it!

Mystery and intrigue. Love and War.

Penelope Douglas gives the unraveling of a Pirate Girl, the love of a troubled boy, and a rivalry thar led to murder!?!

I'm not sure which aspect is more fun- reading/listening to the lives of our Fall Away kids or experiencing the rivalry 22 years ago.

Our stories are similar- thankfully the outcomes are not! Fall for Pirate Girls. Be tempted by the Rebels. Whatever you do though- don't forget you aren't alone!
