The audiobook for Painter’s Obsession Volume One by Luna K. Wicked is extremely dark MM erotic horror. As the author states upfront, this is not a romance. This story is about many things, but romance is not one of them. It is about obsession. It is about depravity. It is about psychological warfare. It is about Stockholm syndrome. It is probably the most disturbingly addictive story I’ve ever encountered and absolutely impossible to put down once you start listening. I thought I knew what I was signing up for when I started this audiobook, but it was so much more than I could have imagined. There is no boundary in this story that cannot be crossed. This audiobook and this story burrowed itself right under my skin from the very beginning, going deeper and deeper as I listened until it was completely embedded in my psyche. Ren is what I would call a high-functioning psychopath. He hides in plain sight, working as an attorney. He keeps his true nature hidden very well, wearing a mask of civility and safety… until he decides to show you who he truly is. And by that time, it’s almost certainly too late for you to be saved. Ren sets his sights on Byron just as he is starting a 2-year prison sentence, during which time Ren’s obsession only grows. By the time Byron is released, Ren is ready to put his plan in action to abduct, torture, and entirely possess the man. He dates Byron’s sister, Gabriella, as a means of getting close to Byron and later as a means of controlling him, as he knows Byron would do anything for his sister. What follows is a completely unhinged, provocative, perverse, and pervasive journey into the mind of a killer and that of his victim. I was completely invested in and committed to this story from start to finish. And what a finish it was! The mother of all cliffhangers! However long it takes for volume two to be released in audio will be too long for me.

This story is only further enhanced by the duet-style narration outstandingly performed by Joe Arden, Corvin King, and Mia Moreno. Their incredibly strong individual character portrayals along with stellar writing and smart production choices make this an unforgettable listen!

CHECK TRIGGERS

This book was DARK. The plot was captivating at points you wanted to read in between your fingers. The triggers on for this not a suggestion they are a true warning. This book hurt my heart at points. Overall, I couldn't put the book down.

Joes performance in this audio was so good it was almost terrifying. He captures the character of Ren and how completely unhinged and the lack or remorse.

Corvin Lord I felt those screams in my soul! His performance in this book was utter perfection. You could feel his heart and soul poured into this book.

Mia added to this cast, her voice blended so well with Joe and Corvin.

This production was amazing, the story was captivating. Immediately needing the next volume!

This book was really crazy. So so good. Joe Arden played his part so well that you felt how crazy and twisted REN is. I literally felt like I could see his reactions and mannerisms. It was scary good. I hope that both Joe Arden and Corvin King narrate volume 2. It won’t be the same if they don’t.
