I never should have agreed to marry my older brother's best friend, but I was in a bit of a jam.

Aston offers to marry me as protection from my ex in exchange for helping out with his daughter, who needs more stability in her life after recently losing her mother. It's an unfortunate no-brainer.

Only what starts as a simple business arrangement quickly turns messy. Heated. Soon he's no longer fighting with me, but for me as he calls me his wife and claims my baby as his.

Except nothing is that simple or easy for any of us.

Now here I am, falling for the hotshot doctor and his daughter while our lives come undone around us.

one of my favorite lesser used tropes

I love duet narration. I know it's more expensive to do, but I love that more and more authors are going in that direction. I've listened to both CJ Bloom and JF Harding many times, and enjoyed them both in this book. CJ Bloom does a great kid voice, which I appreciate. I enjoyed the story when I read it, and appreciated it just a little differently when I listened to it later.

Solid 4 1/2 stars.

I've read a couple of books by this author, and was interested in jumping into a new series from the beginning. Unfortunately there were still a ton of characters mentioned, I assume from previous series, that I'm not familiar with. Enemies to lovers is not my favorite (nor is age gap) but I love marriage of convenience and another trope that I wad unaware of when I decided to check this one out, and I was pumped about, because it's not one I come across as often as I'd like, and I really enjoy it. I laughed more than I expected to, and the first sex scene hit me in just the right way because I found it to be one of the better ones I've read in a while. They're always subjective, but something about this one was up there for me. The enemies part wasn't a full blown hate thing, so that part was good for me, also the age gap was practically a non issue, I even forgot about it. I will definitely be continuing with this series.

CJ Bloom and JF Harding were incredible at narrating this amazing story. I was immediately drawn into the book listening to their voices. They really bring out the personalities of the characters. One of the things that I loved about these two narrators is their ability to pull you into the narrative and the way they voiced the characters you could feel all the emotions that came with them. I really like how it was so easy to connect with the main characters because of the way it was narrated. I just loved this story. If you're into stories that features enemies to lovers, brothers best friend, forced proximity, a marriage of convenience and workplace drama, then grab a copy of this.

This story absolutely stole my heart. Its emotional, angsty, steamy, the tension is palpable and the spice is on point. I knew it would be an emotional story but I didnt expect the levity, humor and the amount of love that poured of the pages. I had only read a novella by J. Saman so I wasnt sure what to expect and I was completely enamored with her storytelling. The characters all around are full and the plot was complete. This book has 2 of my favorite tropes, marriage of convenience and not his baby, they where both masterfully executed. I loved this character driven story. There is plenty of plot to keep it moving but I absolutely loved these characters.

Aston and Skyler have amazing chemistry. It get complicated bit the chemistry and desire never fades, it only builds as they become closer.
I loved the strength in Skylar and stradyness of Aston. The family they build with his daughter Zoey and the baby to come is beautiful. I loved the medical aspect of the story, Skylar a nurse and Aston and peds surgeon. I love the balance of the emotions in this story, it shows vulnerability and strength.

I love that this is the first in a series and I cant wait to get the next story.

I swaped out.to the audiobook when it became available a day early and I was only about 20% in. It was my best decision of the of the month. This is Duet style narration and C.J. Bloom and J.F. Harding where immaculate. The way the can portray emotions all across the board always amazes me. They where a perfect casting for these characters.

LOVED IT

This story was a superb way to begin this series, and CJ and JF absolutely slayed the narration.
From the fiery, feisty banter to the scorching hot, steamy scenes, their portrayal of Aston and Skylar was flawless.

Sexual tension, chemistry for days, tender and heartwarming moments, alongside some anxiety-inducing events, the best sort of friends and family; this book had a bit of everything.
Add in an adorable five-year-old, and I was absolutely in love.

I was sucked in from the beginning and came out the other side of this audiobook with a smile on my face and a sense of anticipation for the next book.

This may have been the first time I have enjoyed Ms Saman's words, but it definitely won't be the last.
In fact, if you need me, you will find me neck deep in her back catalogue!

it was a perfect story with great writing and narration. I love J Saman's work and the entire Boston clan. I will definitely read this one again!
